Computed Tomography (CT)
Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is equipped with a brand new BrightSpeed 16-slice CT. This machine scans in seconds, which means our team is able to perform more scans under sedation instead of full anesthesia. This makes the process much easier for your pet.
The images taken on our CT are not only extremely high quality, but they can also be reconstructed in 3D, which allows our specialists to extract much more information.
CT scans are available at our Buzzards Bay location.
Ultrasound is a pain-free, non-invasive technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce a real-time image of your pet’s internal organs. Often considered more exact than radiographs, ultrasound provides a “movie” of what is happening inside your pet’s body.
Ultrasound is particularly useful when veterinarians need to view your pet’s abdominal organs including the spleen, kidneys, liver, and gallbladder. Ultrasound can also be used to evaluate heart functions, bladder scans and other areas such as the thyroid glands, testicles and mammary glands.
Ultrasound also works well in conjunction with other diagnostic tools and a wide range of diagnostic procedures. For example, if an X-ray shows a lesion on your pet, an ultrasound can determine the origin of the lesion and whether it has spread elsewhere in your pet’s body. Using the ultrasound image as a guide, surgical biopsies can be obtained without major surgery and your pet can often go home the same day. Ultrasounds are typically not stressful for your pet and take anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes to perform.
Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists utilizes only state of the art ultrasound assisted procedures and offers diagnostic ultrasound services on a weekly basis as well as emergency ultrasounds on a call-in basis as referred by your veterinarian.
Both of our hospital locations utilize digital radiology with the ability to manipulate images to maximize diagnostic potential. Radiographs are easily shared with your primary veterinarian to ensure a collaborative approach to patient care. All of our radiographs are reviewed by a veterinary specialist in radiology, surgery, internal medicine or critical care.
We have two convenient locations.
